There's No Room For Negative Self Talk

stop the negative self talk! period!

Negative self-talk refers to the habit of engaging in negative, critical, or self-deprecating thoughts about oneself. That inner voice that can be pessimistic, judgmental, or harsh towards yourself. Negative self-talk can impact your self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being. We need to stop. Now.

I know I make it sound easy to stop, it’s not, but If you find yourself caught in a cycle of negative self-talk, here are a few strategies to help you combat and overcome it:

  1. Recognize and acknowledge: Start by becoming aware of your negative self-talk patterns. Pay attention to the thoughts and words you use when talking to yourself. Notice the recurring negative themes or self-criticisms that arise.

  2. Challenge your thoughts: Question the validity of your negative self-talk. Ask yourself if there is evidence supporting those negative beliefs. Often, negative self-talk is based on irrational or unfounded assumptions. Challenge these thoughts by asking for evidence or reframing them in a more positive or realistic light.

  3. Replace with positive affirmations: Counteract negative self-talk by consciously replacing it with positive affirmations. Identify positive qualities, strengths, and accomplishments about yourself. Repeat these affirmations regularly, either silently or out loud, to counteract the negative thoughts.

  4. Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding. Understand that everyone makes mistakes and has flaws. Instead of berating yourself for perceived shortcomings, practice self-compassion. Treat yourself as you would treat a friend who is going through a difficult time.

  5. Surround yourself with positive influences: Limit exposure to people or situations that contribute to negative self-talk. Surround yourself with supportive, uplifting individuals who appreciate and encourage you. Engage in activities that make you feel good about yourself and boost your self-confidence.

  6. Challenge perfectionism: Perfectionism often fuels negative self-talk. Recognize that perfection is an unrealistic and unattainable goal. Embrace a growth mindset and focus on progress rather than perfection. Celebrate your efforts and achievements, no matter how small they may seem.

  7. Book a boudoir session with Kim Kelley Photo and see the reasons why the negative thoughts are totally ridiculous and not necessary! Joking, not joking. A boudoir session is a great way to show yourself all your worries and self doubt are baseless. Not sure I’m right? Try me, and if you don’t love yourself a little more after a session, it’s on me. :)
